I'm a veteran journalist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, a freelancer since 1994 following over 20 years in newspapers and in TV news. (Check my Bio page for details.) I love soft adventure, history, nature, and cultural travel, and I specialise in North America (mostly Canada) and Mexico, with occasional side trips to lesser-known Caribbean spots.
Always eager to learn new skills, I'm also busy trying to master the arcane art of photography (check the Photofiles-- I may be getting the hang of it). Many out-of-the-way spots I cover aren't photographed much, and it seems to make editors' lives easier if I can provide images with the copy.
